Since the date back to 1954 A.D., the Campus has been playing important role for the value of knowledge, human capital development, research, innovation, social transformation and benefit to the society.

Characteristics, Structure and Governance
The Patan Multiple Campus is a multiple campus following the university governance framework of Tribhuvan University. Its characteristics, structure and governance system comprise of:
Multi-disciplinary Nature: the campus offers various academic streams, including:
- Humanities and Social Sciences offer BA, and six Masters level programs in Anthropology, Economics, English, Nepali, Rural Development, and Sociology.
- Management runs BBS, MBS and BBA programs. BBA program is a self-sustaining program.
- Science provides BSC, BSC and MSC Environment and MSC physics programs.
- Information Technology and related disciplines are 3 Bachelor level programs (BCA, BIT, & BSC Csit) and 2 Masters level programs (MCA and MIT). These programs are self-sustaining programs.
This multidisciplinary character supports broader knowledge development and interdisciplinary learning.
Academic and Social Responsibility is a prime domain of the Campus. The Campus functions not only as a teaching institution but also as a center for knowledge creation, research, critical thinking, and community engagement. In 2026, the faculty capacity building training programs were organized in the Campus, along with the strategic planning workshop, three Guest Lectures, five faculty researches and seven peer-reviewed journals.
Public and Inclusive Academic Institution represents the values of public higher education, accessibility, and social inclusion. It provides educational opportunities to 13,000 students from different socio-economic backgrounds of 77 districts of Nepal. As per the rule of Tribhuvan University, the Campus has made social inclusion through scholarships.
Historical and Institutional Legacy: Patan Multiple Campus has offered a higher education to few prominent figures of the country including former King, Prime Ministers, Ministers, Parliamentarians, Authors and Scientists) contributing in the nation building.
Academic Approach
Patan Multiple Campus adopts globally accepted and tested interactive and participatory teaching learning approach and digitalized aid classes based on qualified, experienced and professional professors.
- Teaching and Learning is a prime responsibility to undergraduate and graduate students of all streams in all three shifts. It is based on academic framework of Tribhuvan University including academic calendar, syllabus, interactive teaching, internal evaluation, and university level evaluation. Professors have academic freedom and self-governing system in teaching and learning within their minimum credit responsibility.
- Research and Knowledge Creation is well-focused recently. The university has started fund for research and grant competition, like as the University Grant Commission (UGC). Many faculties of the Campus have received such prestigious research fund for conducting research activities for knowledge creation and innovation for benefiting the society. The Campus has also increased research fund within the framework of Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA).
- Community Engagement is well concerned. The Campus has engaged in the community particularly in research and awareness. The department of Sociology and Anthropology, Population, Environment, Management and IT has conducted various research activities in rural areas in the periphery of Kathmandu Valley. In 2026, the department of environment organized walkathon and painting exhibition on June 2 celebrating the World’s Environment Day.
Governance Structure
- Campus Chief is the executive head responsible for academic and administrative leadership.
- Assistant Campus Chiefs and Student Welfare Chiefs are helping hands to the Campus Chief to execute the executive responsibility and campus administration (Manages daily operations, planning, coordination, and institutional development).
- Campus Committees are Management Committee, Executive Committee, and Internal Quality Assurance Committee (IQAC) for supporting decision-making, quality improvement, and academic management.

Supporting Structure
The campus includes supporting units such as:
- Administration section / Account Section offer all administrative and account services to student and professors from the main building of the Campus.
- Library and information services is the oldest one rich for old and valuable books in the library. It serves 13,000 students from morning to day.
- Laboratories are located in the science block. There are six General science laboratories and three computer labs. In Management and Humanities, there are two computer labs in BBA and BCA.
- Student services and Information technology facilities are made accessible and affordable as per the framework of the public institution from morning to day.
